Warrior Shout-Out: “Zach has gone above and beyond as a first year teacher. He goes out of his way to attend a wide variety of after school events and activities. It is evident that he builds strong relationships with all types of students, regardless of if he has them in his classroom or not. He has also taken on multiple extra duties to help facilitate co-curricular options for students at SHS. The way he approaches his work and carries himself everyday is an amazing example for both peers and students. Mr. Kelly is indeed an Ultimate Warrior!”

Warrior Shout-Out: I would like to nominate our Horizon Elementary kitchen manager, Jackie Remboldt, for the Ultimate Warrior Award. Jackie is always here early getting breakfast prepared for the students. She and her staff then have to clean up and start preparing lunch. She sometimes gets calls from parents, on the day of their child's birthday requesting treats, and she always takes care of them if she is able to. She makes a special lunch for the staff once a week, and she caters meals for the school board meetings and other community events. She spends countless hours of her own time keeping our school cafeteria running properly. Jackie always goes above and beyond to take care of the students, and staff, in our building and that's why I think she is an Ultimate Warrior!

Warrior Shout-Out: Mrs. Marsh is always looking for ways to expand her course offerings and give students opportunities to take ownership over their learning. Screenprinting is a huge endeavor that she jumped into without a second thought because it allows our students to both learn a real world skill and provide a service to the school community. She makes personal sacrifices to give our students the best experiences and that sure sounds like an ULTIMATE WARRIOR to me!

She is fun, energetic, positive, friendly, thoughtful, caring and makes the day more enjoyable for her students and for everyone she meets. Warrior Shout-Out: Sheri is a wonderful teacher who cares about the wellbeing of each of her current students and past students. She brings passion for math daily, is adaptive to fit her students' needs and encourages them to grow as people and students - pushing each student to be their best self. Sheri always has fun ideas to challenge her students' learning so they can fully grasp new concepts. Additionally, she is a great mentor and friend to all teachers in our building and is willing to lend a hand at any time and in any situation. We are so lucky to have Sheri at Maple!
Today, students from Smithville Middle School and Maple Elementary School spent their morning at the Smithville Senior Center playing games and sharing companionship with our cherished seniors! It's truly inspiring to see different generations connect and learn from each other. Warrior Shout Out: "Connor is his second year of teaching. In his first two years, he has been dealt with some major stresses due to having to step in for me with some of my health struggles. Last year, he had to take over the Wind Ensemble for MSHSAA State with only four rehearsals to do it in. Last month, he had to again conduct the Wind Ensemble for a concert when I had COVID, he did this with one rehearsal the day of the concert!! He has been doing all of this with grace, professionalism, skill, and passion for the students successes. We are very fortunate to have him in our program, school district, and community.

Warrior Shout-Out: Mrs Uptegrove is an amazingly gifted teacher and brings years of experience as well as passion and insight into teaching our youngest students. She carefully plans lessons, worksheets, activities and crafts to enhance and reinforce learning. She also introduces content that goes beyond the basic pre-k level giving students a chance to excel according to their level. Her classroom management provides organization and structure to the daily routine. And on top of all this, she is a caring, open-minded, creative and considerate co-worker. Our district is better because of her wealth of talent and expertise.

Warrior Shout-Out: Aimee is the most selfless caring individual I have met. She always meets students where they are and responds with a gentle heart. Students are comfortable going to her with their problems and they know she will not judge them. I am very fortunate to have her to brainstorm thoughts and ideas off of and know a solution will happen. Aimee is a champion for all!
